Hi! My name is Simon Schaffner and I am a fashion designer from New Jersey and a recent graduate from the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning. My work is grounded in exploration of material, method and concept through research and prototyping.
I am most experienced in fashion design but I am interested in all forms of making and design. I like to take an interdisciplinary approach to each project. For me, design is a tool I can use to learn new things, and change in response. I aspire to use the things I learn to make the world a more special place.
As a designer, I am both research-oriented and also passionate about hands-on making. I am currently developing design methodology based on findings about the role of craft and crafted artifacts in our world.
I love learning and spending time in the studio or the library. When I’m not making things, I enjoy being outdoors, playing guitar, boxing, interacting with animals, and spending time with friends.
